I’ve recently run into a problem using some of the Dispatcher.BeginInvoke() overloads. Seems this is because I was deploying to a device only using v3.0 of the framework. So, some overloads are safe, and some are not. This article gives you all the details:

Time Zones in Sql Server

If you ever need to work with time zone conversions, beware that when you persist a System.DateTime to Sql Server, the .Kind property does not persist. This means that you’ll either have to implement your own method of persisting the time zone of the date.

I’ve seen a couple of different flavors, almost all of them revolve around storing the time zone in a separate column.

The last project I was on, the data access layer assumed that every date was set to UTC time, which is ok – but can create some complications once you need to access the data outside of the data access layer.

I’ve heard that this problem has been remedied in Sql Server 2008, although I haven’t had the time to verify. Anyone else have a favorite remedy for this?
